Formatting your bookWhen we make your book, we turn your manuscript into the text of your book – converting each page of your computer document into a page in your book. It is your work and when you give it to us as a PDF file, that is exactly how it will look on the page – so you might want to consider some formatting issues:
· Make sure your margins are big enough so when trimmed the text is not too close to the edge – or too close to the inside of the book. · Choose a font that works well in a book and is easy to read such as Garamond. · For an A5 book, make the font at least 16pt (if your page set up is A4) – or 12pt (if you page set up is A5) · Use 1.5 spacing · Lay out your pages according to how you want the book to look ie. page one will be your title page. You might want to leave page 2 blank (as it will be on the back of your title page) or you might want to use this as your copyright page. Page 3 might be your dedication page. Look through other books and work out what layout you would like. · Make sure you start chapter one on an odd page number so it will be on the right-hand-side. · Use the “justify” setting to align your text so that you have neat edges in the body of your text. · Put in any headings, decorative finishes, page numbers (don’t use a number on page one) and scan in any artwork or photos where you want them in the text. · Make sure you have checked the spelling and grammar. · When you are satisfied – convert the document to a PDF · Finally, please feel free to ask for help or advice if you need it.
Alternatively, we can format your book for you at a cost of $250
